Jason Abel
Jason is an experienced advocate and trial lawyer. He represents individuals and businesses in a wide variety of matters, including complex litigation before juries, judges, and arbitrators throughout the United States and around the world. He also serves as outside general counsel for several companies, and he helped "write the book" on legal procedure as co-author of the ICLE Michigan Civil Procedure treatise.
Jason began his career at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York City, practicing commercial litigation and international law. Returning to Michigan in 2007, he joined Honigman LLP, where he was a litigation partner with a varied practice spanning commercial litigation, real property litigation, supply chain disputes, trusts and estates, and family law.
Jason formed Abel Hiller with Jim Hiller in 2025 to provide strategic, business-focused legal solutions with an unwavering commitment to exceptional client service.
Education
Jason received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and received the Alona E. Evans Award for best brief in the world in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Williams College.
